Thanks to a collaborative relationship that combines the strengths of the University of New Mexico with our Gateway Partner institutions (Central New Mexico Community College, Santa Fe Community College, NM Junior College, San Juan College and the UNM branch campuses), students that have been accepted into the Gateway Program are given the opportunity to live on campus!
UNM Gateway is a cooperative program with our neighboring community college partners and UNM branch campuses designed to ensure a participating student's success in college. Only New Mexico residents applying for admission as freshmen to UNM may be invited to participate in the Gateway Program. Upon successfully completing 24 credit hours of core curriculum at a partner campus, students continue their education on the UNM main campus.
The traditional halls in Residence Life and Student Housing close for winter break, leaving only the apartment-style halls (RVA and SRC) open. Because CNM's class schedule runs beyond the winter closing date of our traditional halls, Gateway students that live with us and that need to stay on campus over the winter break generally apply to live in our apartment-style halls. The winter intersession charge is built into the published apartment-style rates so residents in our apartment-style halls do not pay an additional charge. Gateway students that are assigned to a traditional hall and that request an additional winter intersession contract in a traditional hall (when made available) will be assessed an additional Winter Intersession charge.
