Residence Life and Student Housing offers various meeting spaces and other facilities for reservation throughout the academic year.
Reservations are open to UNM departments and chartered organizations as well as outside organizations. Reservable facilities include small and large lounges, a ballroom, large and small classrooms, and an outdoor plaza. All reservations must be made in advance. Non-RLSH events during the week before the first week of classes or during finals week require special RLSH approval. We are happy to accommodate special seating arrangements in all facilities without fixed seating. Please see the list of facilities and their descriptions below.
The Hokona Ballroom is dynamic venue for banquets, dances, group meetings, or open floor events with a maximum capacity of 250 people with theater style seating or 140 with dinner-style seating. Audio-visual system is XM Satellite, Blu-ray and I-pod compatible.
Movable seating and tables and a maximum capacity of 70 people make the Hokona Classroom a versatile seating for your next meeting. It is perfect for events that need DVD, VCR or computer projection. Audio-visual system is XM Satellite, Blu-ray and I-pod compatible. Classroom or theater style seating are suggested for this particular venue, but small seating arrangements are possible.
The mid-century modern style of the Hokona Lounge makes it a great setting for casual group gatherings. The maximum capacity is 150 and has a permanent seating arrangement with ultra-suede sofas and chairs and coffee tables arranged in small group seating areas. Food and drink are not allowed in this facility. The Hokona lounge is flanked by the smaller boardroom-style East and West Lounges.
Hokona East and West Lounges
These small lounge areas work well for breakout sessions, office conferences, or small group meetings for a maximum of 20 people and include fixed seating and a large boardroom-style table and chairs. Food and drink are not allowed in the lounges.
Student Residence Center Commons Classroom #205
Located in the Student Residence Center Commons Building, this classroom is ideal for small student organization meetings. It seats a maximum of 25 people in almost any meeting arrangement. This room is equipped with dry erase boards. Small snack foods and drinks are allowed in this classroom.
La Posada Plaza
This outdoor area is great for barbeques, live music events, or small tables for circulating materials to students. Restrictions exist regarding noise and supplies and there is limited shade/electricity.
The Hut at RVA
This versatile space can hold 20 people in a meeting arrangement and 30 with theater-style seating and provides a focused sense of seclusion at its location near RVA. The Hut’s kitchenette with full refrigerator and barbeque grills located outside make it a great location for an event entailing food.
Lower Johnson Courts
Newly renovated “Lower Johnson” is a great outdoor space for your next event. Sandpit volleyball courts, fresh basketball courts, and a shady picnic area and make it a nice spot for outdoor, group activities.
