Need to get here early? There is a $30 per day early arrival fee (fee is charged to your Bursar’s Account after check-in.) Early arrival must be pre-approved and you must complete the Early Arrival Application as soon as possible. Early arrivals can check in at their assigned hall desk and park in designated parking areas.
RESIDENT LOBO Move-In 2017: August 15-18, 2017
9 am to 8 pm
Resident Lobo Move-In is the optimal yet flexible time for check-in at UNM. Moving carts along with volunteers will be available to help you unload on any of these four days of move-in. Most importantly, designated unloading zone access for your vehicle will be available to ease your move.
During this time, UNM Housing will host UNM departments such as UNM Foods, Parking, and more to answer any last-minute questions. You can also visit with representatives from the UNM Parent Association. Who knows, there might even be a Louie Lobo sighting!
Weekend Arrival: August 19-20, 2017
9 am to 8 pm
Can’t make it until the weekend? No problem. Park in the designated parking areas and arrive to your assigned hall desk to check in.
Residents who have not checked in by Monday, August 21 at 5 pm, or notified us of late arrival, will be charged a no-show fee. Please call our 24/7 help desk at 505.277.2606 if you are experiencing any special situations that prevent you from arriving at this time.
Early arrival must be pre-approved. There is a $30 per day early arrival fee, billed to your Bursar's Account after you have checked in. Please long into your housing portal and complete the early arrival application.
Head to the check-in station for your hall upon arrival:

Coronado, Alvarado, RVA Residents- Coronado Hall Lobby
A temporary unloading parking permit will be provided to you when you arrive at the tent located at the sidewalk access or “Pedway.” (See map.) Please only use the unloading zones to drop off your belongings. Please park briefly, unload your items and then move your car to a residential parking area to complete your check-in process or to unpack your room.
The Pedway is the main sidewalk that runs through the Residence Life area, beginning at the Redondo Road roundabout running west to the Social Sciences building (note the green arrow on the map). The Pedway is set up as an unloading zone during Resident Lobo Move-In. Unloading zones are not for checking in, unpacking or other campus errands:
- Enter on the east end from the roundabout. Look for the check-in tent.
- Stop at the check-in tent to obtain your 30 minute unloading permit.
- Pedway speed limit is 5 mph.
- The Pedway is ONE-WAY ONLY. Drive west and park on the right hand side to unload.
- Exit at the west end of the Pedway near the Social Sciences building.
During Resident Lobo Move-In, residents are allowed to park in the residence hall “R” parking lots as well as the Lomas structure “S” parking lots without a parking pass until classes begin August 22. Residents who plan to park on campus regularly, however, should purchase a permit from UNM Parking & Transportation Services as soon as possible. Residential Parking Areas (“R” lots) for move-in include:
- Parking lot between Hokona Hall and LDV Complex
- Parking lot east of Coronado Hall
- Parking lot east of Redondo Village Apartments
- Parking lot south of the SRC Apartments
Look for volunteers: "Operation Lobo Move-In" Volunteers will be available to help unload your vehicle and carry your belongings to your room August 15-18 only. Volunteers will be on hand during our peak move in times.
Look for staff: Staff members wearing polo's with the Residence Life and Student Housing insignia will be throughout the housing area during check-in. If space is limited in a designated Unloading Zone, these staff members can help bring your items closer to the building.
Check out equipment: Staff members at each area desk (East Desk in Coronado Hall, SRC Commons Desk, and West Desk in Hokona Hall) will have dollies and carts available for you to check out. Lobo ID is required to check out equipment.
Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) will not issue citations for vehicles without permits that are parked in residence hall parking lots unless prohibited by sign, curb color or ADA accessibility. This leniency does not apply to Handicap spaces, Official Vehicle spaces, or any yellow/red painted curb areas. Regular citations will commence on Monday, August 22.
To pick up a pre-purchased parking permit, visit the designated Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) table in the SRC Commons lounge. You must have your Lobo ID in order to pick up your permit. Permits not claimed by the day prior to classes must be claimed at UNM Parking Services during normal business hours. To purchase a parking permit, contact Parking and Transportation Services.
We encourage all Resident Lobos to get a free mailbox, located in the SRC Commons. Mailboxes are assigned by request only, but are a great resource to receive university information, campus deals, and packages. To request a mailbox key, present your Lobo ID card to a Mail Room Attendant. If you have questions about the mailbox system, contact the SRC Commons Mail Room at 505-277-9206.
Move-in can generate a lot of trash! Residence Life & Student Housing strives to lower our trash collection through recycling. Every building has a permanent trash and recycling area. However, during move-in, additional trash and recycling receptacles will be available close to each hall. Please join UNM in our Green Initiative and recycle whenever possible. Temporary recycling areas will be designated with orange fencing. These areas are for cardboard only; please do not use for Styrofoam.
