Be aware of a security update that will impact service availability on Friday, 4/4, 6 am to 7 am as outlined on it.unm.edu.

On April 4th at 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., a critical security update to RedHat will be made that will impact service availability as outlined below.

 

The update has been scheduled as follows:

  • Friday, April 4, 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. 
  • While unlikely, it is possible that the outage could be lengthier and more impactful. Updates will be provided on IT Alerts
  • It's important to note that no other significant changes are planned during this update, and the work will not impact the overall availability of the UNM Data Center. The services listed below will be unavailable during this time. The UNM network will remain available for the duration of the update period.

 What does this mean for you?

  • On Friday, April 4, 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., services using RedHat are expected to be unavailable. See below for a select list of services that will be impacted. For a more detailed list of services that are expected to be unavailable, see it.unm.edu.
  • If you manage any RedHat systems or the services listed below, please ensure that all critical tasks are completed before the scheduled maintenance to avoid disruptions.

 Additional Information:

  • Network and Services provided by UNM Sciences Center (HSC) are NOT impacted by this outage.

 We ask your help to coordinate with your IT Officer/Liaison/Staff to:

  • Identify any critical (life-safety) services that must not be interrupted. 
  • Identify potential risks of service outages during these periods.
  • Work with your faculty, staff, students, and vendors to make sure service disruptions are well communicated and mitigated, where possible.  
  • Leverage supplemental communication mechanisms to help us keep the campus community involved and well informed.
