2024 Summer Intern Lodging Program

UNM Residence Life and Student Housing (RLSH) offers affordable and convenient lodging to students with summer internships in the Albuquerque area. Apartments are furnished with a full complement of furniture. Interns provide their own dishes, bed/bath linens and other personal items.

Program Dates

2024 Program Dates: May 18, 2024 to July 28, 2024. Applications will be available March 1, 2024 at 12:00 noon MST.

Convenient Apartment Living

We provide single accommodations (private bedrooms) in our 4-bedroom apartments at Redondo Village Apartments (RVA), located on the Southeast corner of UNM’s central campus. Single occupancy bedrooms include a twin XL bed, desk, chair, dresser, and closet area. Community areas within the apartment include a bath suite, living room, bar-style dining, and kitchen, with oven, stove, microwave, and full-sized refrigerator.

Suite-Style Single Rooms

This year, we will also offer limited single accommodations (private bedrooms) in our suite-style Laguna Hall, located on main campus, just West of the Student Residence Center. Single occupancy bedrooms include a twin XL bed, desk, chair, dresser, and closet. Double rooms will be utilized as singles. Each suite contains 1 to 4 bedrooms that share a bathroom. Upper floor lounges include couches, a TV, and a study area with whiteboard. The basement houses a large kitchen with oven, stove, microwave, and a full-sized refrigerator with eating areas, 2 laundry rooms, and additional lounges/study areas. Interns are welcome to bring their own micro-fridge and/or microwave for their room. The image below shows a typical suite layout.

Application and Agreement

Applications will be available beginning Friday, March 1, 2024 at 12:00 noon MST. Please review the following before submitting your application:

Application Process

Applications will be reviewed in the order they were received, beginning on March 1, 2024. Applications must be submitted by the intern. Applications submitted by 3rd parties (i.e. parents, faculty, sponsors, etc.) are not accepted.

Submit an online application, for review and approval. Once we have approved your application, we will email you an invoice with your payment schedule and instructions, and will place a 7-day hold on a room. Interns will have seven business days from transmission of invoice to complete payment before their room hold expires. Receipt of full payment will reserve the room.

Paying for Summer Intern Lodging

Payments are accepted via our secure online payment portal by credit/debit card. To complete your payment, follow the instructions emailed to you with your invoice. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee due at time of payment for all approved applications.

Payments made by UNM departments via Departmental Purchase Requisition can be arranged by calling 505-277-2660. Multiple room blocks are not available.

Campus Safety Resources

UNM is an open campus situated in a thriving metropolitan area of Albuquerque. Smoke, Drug, and Alcohol-Free Environment

UNM RLSH provides a smoke-free environment for all guests that stay with us. Smoking, vaping and all other tobacco products are prohibited in all buildings on campus. Smoking is limited to designated outdoor areas. Alcohol is prohibited within the RLSH areas, even if of legal drinking age. Illegal drugs, including marijuana, are prohibited at UNM. You may not possess, use, sell, or otherwise distribute any illegal drug or controlled substance at UNM. Violation of these policies may result in forfeit of Agreement with no refund, charges for remediation, and/or immediate dislodgement.

Dining Options

Most interns opt to cook for themselves, which is made easy with the full kitchens provided in each apartment or in the main kitchen at Laguna Hall. Additionally, there are a multitude of off-campus dining options ranging from fast food to fine dining, located within a short walk of RVA. There are several on-campus dining options available to interns that stay with us. La Posada Dining Hall, accepting walk-ins and meal plans, will be open (limited hours) for breakfast, lunch and dinner service, brunch and dinner on weekends. The Market at the SRC will be open (limited hours) as well as The Mercado and some food court restaurants at the Student Union Building.

Unused balances are not refundable. Meal plan consultations are available to assist you in selecting the best plan for your stay.
